Our Journey Since 1996

The Legacy of Ile Te Shango

Founded in 1996 by Baba Andres Campos Ramos (spiritually known as Oshe Șángóbuyi), Ile Te Shango stands as a cornerstone of the Afro-Cuban religious community in the United States. Its history is a testament to the preservation of tradition and the evolution of spiritual advocacy.

The Foundations (1996–2005)

The "Ile" (House) was established with a singular mission: to provide a sanctuary for the practice of Regla de Ocha (Santería) and Palo Mayombe. Baba Andres, a devotee of Shango, named the house to honor the Orisha of thunder and justice. Early years were focused on creating a disciplined lineage, emphasizing the authentic "Lucumí" traditions and the meticulous study of the Diloggún (cowrie shell divination).

The Expansion of Knowledge

As Oshe Șángóbuyi’s reputation as a skilled diviner and priest grew, the Ile transitioned from a private religious circle into an educational hub. Recognizing the need for structured learning in a tradition often shrouded in secrecy, the house began offering mentorship in:

  • Odu Interpretation: Teaching the ethical and philosophical lessons of the sacred signs.

  • Ritual Craftsmanship: Preserving the "Holy Alchemy" of botanical preparations and ritual oils.

A Legacy of Advocacy

What sets the history of Ile Te Shango apart is its integration of faith and social justice. Under Baba Andres' leadership, the house expanded its spiritual mandate to address real-world suffering. This led to the formation of the Ile Te Shango Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to:

  • Supporting the LGBTQIA+ homeless community.

  • Providing aid to Native American initiatives and the elderly.

  • Blending the roles of a Santero (priest) and a Certified Public Accountant to ensure the foundation’s longevity and transparency.

Modern Impact & The Las Vegas Hub

Today, the legacy continues through Royal King Xango Magnum Opus in Las Vegas, serving as the physical retail and consultation arm of the Ile. After nearly three decades, Ile Te Shango is no longer just a religious house; it is a multi-generational institution that balances ancient ancestral resonance with modern community empowerment.

Guided by the spirit of Oshe Șángóbuyi – Community, Discipline, Wisdom.
